Sydney Living Museums and State Archives and Records Authority update

The management of Sydney Living Museums and State Archives and Records Authority of NSW have contacted the PSA on 30 August 2022 to advise:

  1. The intention to remove their mandatory vaccination requirement for staff as of 1 September
  2. The proposed Curatorial and Research Team changes. We are advised that staff have been advised of these intended changes and that a consultation period closes on 31 August 2022. We are led to understand that the changes to the Curatorial Team involves changes to roles and reporting lines and the creation of some new roles.

In regard to the change to vaccination requirements we have asked them to provide us with their risk assessment that guides them in this decision. Such an assessment should also address ongoing measures that they will be doing to ensure the health and safety of staff.

In regard to the proposed changes to the Curatorial and Research Team the PSA has sought further information and proper consultation with the PSA. This needs to be beyond the current time period provided. We advised that information provided should include, but not be limited to:

  • the rationale for the change
  • what roles are going to be affected and how
  • how individuals will be affected
  • whether there are jobs being deleted
  • how any new roles are being evaluated
  • how roles will be filled (particularly if existing employees are affected)
  • whether there is an impact in terms of equal employment opportunities.

If members are affected by the issues above please contact the PSA on 1300 772 679 or email .
