Proposal to change roster pattern
On Thursday 25 January 2024, a members meeting was held at Cobham Youth Justice Centre. At this meeting members discussed the Department’s proposal to move to a 3x3x3 roster pattern
This would mean that members would work 3 afternoons, 3 mornings and then have 3 days off. Moving to this roster would mean that you will always start on a 2:00pm-10:00pm shift and end on a 6:00am-2:00pm shift thus almost giving you 4 days off.
This would mean if you finished 2:00pmpm on a Friday, then Saturday, Sunday and Monday are days off and your next shift starts 2:00pm Tuesday.
The downfall is that there is a quick turnaround on day 4 of the run.
The current roster of 6×3 where members work 6 afternoons or 6 mornings and then 3 days off.
So, you can finish at 10:00pm on a Friday, have Sat, Sun & Monday off and resume work 6:00am on Tuesday.
Benefit is no quick turnaround.
Members at the meeting discussed other pro’s and con’s for the change and voted to have a survey put to the members by the PSA so that all members at Cobham could have a say.
