Online temps meeting: PSA keeps management moving forward on temps

Temp Staff - Sept 2020 (PDF version)

On 15 September, your union had a further meeting with Legal Aid management regarding our campaign to increase job security of temporary employees.

Management advised the PSA that it is continuing plans to convert some long-term temporary employees, advertise vacancies and ensure temporary staff are kept advised as to their situation. Management has taken steps to enforce appropriate guidelines for hiring of temporary staff.

At this stage there are no firm dates of conversion or advertising of vacancies, but it appears real progress is being made.

We need to keep up the pressure to ensure that Legal Aid finally moves away from its historical over-reliance on temporary insecure employment and moves to a best practice workforce planning model.

The PSA is holding an online temps meeting on 24 September 2020, to discuss our campaign, joining the PSA and how to get more involved, which you can join by clicking HERE.

We encourage all staff to invite their colleagues and friends who may be temporary and want to hear more about our campaign.

The PSA is the union for professionals working within the public service – if you wish to join click HERE.
