The recommendations and report for the Special Commission of Inquiry into offending by former Corrections Officer Wayne Astill at Dillwynia Correctional Centre were released yesterday and are available here.
The NSW Government and CSNSW management have agreed to create a taskforce chaired by Secretary Michael Tidball, to work through the recommendations and findings. They have agreed it is important that the PSA is part of that taskforce.
The PSA is aware that CSNSW have put out a broadcast regarding mandatory training on the Managing and Reporting of Sexual Harassment in CSNSW. The PSA encourages all staff to complete this training and ensure that you as individuals know how to report Sexual Harassment in the workplace.
Both as individuals and as a team, we need to work towards ensuring that an incident like this never happens again and that we all work in an environment that is free from sexual harassment or sexual assault. Completing this course is one step in the right direction.
If you are finding it difficult to complete the course, contact your manager to arrange a time when you can be relieved to complete it. If you do contact your manager and do not get any assistance, please contact the PSA Member Support Centre for assistance.
