TfNSW: Rail Review Recommendation 11: People & Culture Feedback
TfNSW started the formal consultation process on 7 September, feedback will be open for a minimum of three weeks.
The changes reflect recommendation 11 of the Rail Review; that is, that:
- A role of Executive Director People and Culture be created, responsible for strategy and high-level decision making
- Another role of Director Employee Relations be created to be responsible for strategy
- Sydney Trains have responsibility for recruitment decision making and employee life cycle within its budget without further approval from TfNSW
While this proposal will not delete any positions, it will have an impact on your pay and conditions if you are part of the identified positions from Portfolio 1 People & Culture Business Partnering and the Business Partnering Employee Relations team. This is because you will no longer be under the TfNSW Award. Instead, you will be covered by the Sydney Trains EA. Most significant will be the changes in hours of work (up to 38 hours per week from 35 hours) and loss of flex days which will be replaced by one ADO per month. TfNSW has stated that you will receive an ‘equitable salary boost’, however, at this stage it is unclear whether this will compensate for the loss in flex days and increase in weekly hours.
It would be appreciated if you could please provide your feedback to Izzy Maish () by 25 September 2023 in order to allow enough time to collate the feedback.
