Corrective Services NSW Legacy survey - Public Service Association

Corrective Services NSW Legacy survey

The PSA has been consulting with Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) to establish a Legacy similar to the NSW Police Legacy.

We already know staff are very generous when one of our own needs assistance.

This initiative will only work if there is enough take up by CSNSW staff.

The services that is believed to be offered include:

  • Lump sum payments to immediate family
  • Counselling, psychological/grief support services for immediate family
  • Support for children, such as scholarship funding to attend school and university, Holiday camps, social events
  • Organising events that bring Legatees together and allow them to share experiences and support each other
  • Fundraising events, such as social events, luncheons, BBQs etc,

The fund would eventually operate separate to the department, in a similar way that Police Legacy operates. CSNSW Legacy would be managed with robust policies and procedures and would operate with transparency and accountability. The Fund would be a not-for-profit, incorporated company with charity status and ideally, donations would be tax-deductible. A Board of Directors with staff representation would oversee operations and provide strict governance.

One of the aims of the Legacy Fund would be to raise awareness to the great work that CSNSW staff do for the people of NSW and of the intrinsic dangers which are faced every day by our staff.

CSNSW has been putting out communication with a link to a survey for us to get a better understanding of what you want and if the initiative is viable.

If you have not completed the survey there is a link below.  It would be appreciated if you could completed it.
