Benchmarking

Long Bay MSPC 1-4 benchmarking committee has worked tirelessly on their proposal. It will be presented to all staff today 8 May 2018. We will give further information after the meeting.

Long Bay Hospital 1-2 benchmarking committee will commence its consultation process again with Director Glen Scholes overseeing the process as has been done with MSPC 1-4.

We have the following tours taking place that resulted from the strike action and the IRC matter:

Berrima/Illawarra Re Integration Centre: 7-8 June, 2018. Small centre roles and responsibilities.

Long Bay Complex: 16 May, 2018. In attendance will be Commissioner Murphy, representatives from all branches of PSA.

South Coast Correctional Centre: 17 May, 2018 to discuss roles and responsibilities. Natalie will be in attendance.

South Coast Correctional Centre: 18 May, 2018. In attendance will be Commissioner Murphy, representatives from all branches of PSA.

Goulburn benchmarking committee is still in its first phase and working on its document.

At this stage there are still no dates set for MRRC benchmarking.

IRC RIT CESU

The inspections of Surry Hill/Amber Laurel and MRRC went well. They were of benefit to Commissioner Murphy to understand the intricacies of the processes, how inmates are housed and how RITs affect the movements at MRRC.

There is a future court date and more information will come out of that.

Assault Committee

There is a meeting set down for Tuesday 15 May, 2018 and we have been informed CSNSW will have a form that will be part of the COPP. It will detail what needs to be looked at when an assault happens.

We will put out more information after that meeting. We are hoping that committee will be able to be in place after that meeting.

Sight or Sound Policy

A meeting took place last week in regards this issue and CSNSW are looking at formulating a principle and placing that in the COPP. It will be similar format to the principle Duty of Care.

There will be more meetings on this matter and once we have more information we will put it out in a bulletin.

IRC Sick Leave

We are before the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) on Thursday, 10 May, 2018 on sick leave at the MRRC. Members have not been able to use long service or recreation leave when they have run out of sick leave and are being put on leave without pay.

More information will come out in a bulletin after the IRC.
