Non Custodial and Community Corrections: PSA wins backpay on one-day journey meal allowance underpayment
In 2018, the PSA raised concerns with Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) regarding the meal allowance on one-day journeys not being paid in accordance with the award.
Whilst the issue was addressed prospectively, there have been ongoing discussions for some time with CSNSW about a settlement for dealing with the retrospective underpayments.
The PSA this week agreed to settle the matter in the following way:
- Each member who made a one-day journey between September 2012 and September 2018 will be provided with 50 per cent of the allowance.
- Members who can provide evidence of the amount already paid will be paid the full outstanding amount of the allowance.
This will be a fantastic outcome resulting in backpay for many members in Corrective Services.
At this stage, the information available is what is outlined above. However, the details with regards to processes and timeframes of this settlement are still being decided and members will be updated via bulletin as soon as more specific details are finalised.
