Recently, a PSA member noticed their overtime pay as a Casual Correctional Officer was being calculated incorrectly and did not include an additional 15 per cent to the base rate of pay.

The PSA approached Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) on behalf of our member and explained how the pay was being calculated incorrectly. Our member’s pay was recalculated and they were reimbursed for the outstanding amount.

We also told CSNSW that this issue would be affecting all other Casual Officers who have worked overtime. As a result, CSNSW fixed the system and commenced an investigation on how to back pay staff. CSNSW has now confirmed that the investigation has concluded and outstanding payments will be paid in the next pay cycle to any staff who should have been entitled to this overtime rate in the past six years. The payments will be the difference between the system error and the correct entitlement.
