Consultation with the Office of Sport: PSA member update

Changes to the role of Client Services Officer

The PSA has been meeting with members and the Office of Sport to discuss concerns relating to plans to change the role of Client Service Officers to Project Support Officers. This change has come about as part of centralisation of the booking system used in centres with this work now being undertaken by staff at Head Office.

This has removed a lot of the work traditionally done by Client Service Officers in the recreation centres and created uncertainty amongst members about their future role in the Office of Sport.

We held a teleconference and meeting to collate feedback from the staff affected by this change. There are concerns about the grading of the role and exactly what work they will be doing in their new roles as well as the impact of these changes on centre operations.

These concerns have been put forward to the Department and the process of consultation will continue. We will keep members updated about developments in this matter.

Draft uniform policy

Consultation over the draft uniform policy remains open until 6 March 2020. Some members who have previously been supplied a uniform will now no longer be required to wear one. These members have expressed concerns about the potential for their safety to be compromised when they can no longer be easily identified as staff members.

The PSA has been collecting feedback from members which will inform discussions with The Office of Sport. We welcome any further feedback which can be sent to your PSA Organiser Simone Scalmer at .
